Coalition divisions over Ken Clarke prison reform plan

Conservative backbencher Philip Davies has claimed it is difficult to be sent to prison in Britain and the country locks up fewer people than other nations.

He has been critical of Justice Secretary Ken Clarke's plans for prisons.

But Tom Brake, co-chair of the Liberal Democrats' backbench committee on justice and home affairs said community sentences were more effective in stopping reoffending.
