Ed Balls denies allegations of a plot against Tony Blair

Ed Balls has denied there was a plot by Gordon Brown and his supporters to oust Tony Blair as Prime Minister in the months after the 2005 general election.

The Shadow Chancellor said that although there were tensions between Brown and Blair, there were detailed opened discussions with Tony Blair about a transition.

The allegations of a plot were revealed in personal memos belonging to the Mr Balls which have been published by the Daily Telegraph.
