Libya: Historian on Gaddafi troops in gang rape claims

Libyan historian Faraj Najem, who has family fighting with rebel troops, claimed stories of Gaddafi's troops taking part in gang rape were too graphic and horrible to tell on television.

Be he added that a noose was tightening around the leader's neck and called for the opposition to be armed to protect civilians.

Fellow historian Max Hastings predicted Gaddafi eventually would go and would leave behind "an unholy mess" and he doubted there was a plan to deal with the aftermath.
