David Cameron tries to distance himself from Coulson
David Cameron has admitted that with hindsight he would not have employed Andy Coulson as his head of communications.
During a heated debate in the House of Commons on Wednesday the prime minister told MPs that he regretted and was "extremely sorry" for the furore caused by appointing Mr Coulson.
On whether Mr Coulson knew about the phone-hacking scandal, the prime minister said: "If it turns out I have been lied to, that would be a moment for a profound apology."
