George Osborne: UK 'masters of our own destiny'

Chancellor George Osborne has said that the UK can remain "masters of our own destiny" and in control of the economy.

Speaking at a dinner held at the insurers Lloyd's of London, Mr Osborne said 2010's emergency budget was "on our terms, not the markets" and had allowed the UK to be a safe haven in the global debt crisis.
