Green Belt strengthened in planning reform says Greg Clark

Planning Minister Greg Clark defended government plans to streamline the planning process in England, saying it would strengthen rules on building in the Green Belt, and give planning powers to local people.

The government is consulting on a planning policy aiming to make the system less bureaucratic, which appears to have pleased developers but alarmed environmental groups.

Former Scotland First Minister Jack McConnell explained how he helped speed up the planning process at Holyrood.
