Ed Balls: Labour won't make debt promises

Labour will not promise to reverse unpopular tax rises and spending cuts, the shadow chancellor has said.

Ed Balls told BBC Breakfast that he would urge the government to make changes to its economic plans, but making pledges for a future Labour administration would be irresponsible.

Mr Balls also said that while he would not be specific, policies would have to be built on a "foundation of discipline".
