Wrong time for EU referendum, says europe minister

Europe Minister David Lidington has said it is "completely the wrong time" for a referendum on EU membership.

He was responding to the growing threat of a Conservative rebellion on the issue in the Commons.

Around 70 Tory MPs are expected to ignore a three line whip ordering them to vote against a referendum.
