'More questions than answers in borders fiasco'

The shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper has said the Home Secretary Teresa May, has "questions to answer" over the handling of a pilot scheme to relax passport checks.

Mrs Cooper's urgent question to the House of Commons came as the former head of the UK Border Force Brodie Clark, told a committee of MPs that he did not go beyond instructions from Theresa May.

Damian Green responded to criticism of the home secretary's failure to appear in the Commons "palpably absurd", as she was attending a meeting of the National Security Council.
