Rob Whiteman: Retirement was initially discussed

Chief executive of the UK border agency, Rob Whiteman, has told MPs on the Commons Home Affairs Committee why former head of the UK border force, Brodie Clark, was suspended.

Mr Whiteman said that retirement had been discussed with Mr Clark, but the permanent secretary at the Home Office had intervened and made it clear that it would not be appropriate, given that Mr Clark could face disciplinary proceedings.
