Green: Border check information withheld from ministers
Immigration Minister Damian Green has said "very, very relevant information was withheld from ministers" with regard to the relaxation of checks at UK borders.
Mr Green said he met ex-border force chief Brodie Clark nine times during an approved pilot scheme, but was never told that border staff were routinely going beyond its remit.
His comments came as he appeared before the home affairs select committee, which is investigating claims that checks on arrivals were eased further than was agreed by Home Secretary Theresa May during the pilot.
