RBS Hester bonus should have been allowed, says editor
City AM editor Allister Heath said the government should not have interfered in the controversial £1m bonus to RBS boss Stephen Hester, describing the affair as "a giant mess".
He said the government and opposition were both performing U-turns and Mr Hester should not have been offered a bonus if politicians did not want him to take it.
The bank boss has waived the £963,000 in shares, but the government said it would not block bonuses to other RBS executives.
