Ed Balls: George 'Osborne is out of touch'
Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has accused the chancellor of being "out of touch", amid speculation the 50p top rate of income tax will be scrapped in Wednesday's Budget.
Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr, he said George Osborne was "playing politics with the national interest" and should focus on plans to create jobs and growth.
He also called for a temporary cut to VAT, saying that this would be the best way to get the UK economy moving.
