Budget 2012: Portillo, Campbell and Jones on 50p tax rate
The 50p tax rate should be permanent said author Owen Jones as he debated his This Week film on the Budget. He claimed the UK saw its highest level of growth in the 1960s when it had its highest tax rates.
Michael Portillo said he was impressed with the "politically dangerous" cut in the top rate of tax, after Alastair Campbell claimed the 50p rate should not stay forever.
