Treasury Minister grilled over delay of 3p fuel duty rise
On the day that the government said it would delay a 3p-a-litre rise in fuel duty from August until next January, Treasury Minister Chloe Smith refused to say when exactly the government changed its mind - having previously said it wouldn't delay the tax hike.
Speaking on BBC Newsnight she told Jeremy Paxman scrapping the fuel duty increase had been under consideration for some time.
Ms Smith said the most important thing is that there is help for motorists - and it was right to announce it to Parliament first.
