House of Lords 'deadbeats and has-beens' says Oakeshott
The House of Lords has "an awful lot of deadbeats, an awful lot of has-beens" and people who have supported previous prime ministers, claimed Matthew Oakeshott, a Liberal Democrat peer.
He claimed the house, in which he sits, was "deeply corrupt" as he spoke up for reform backed by his party, although Tuesday's vote faces opposition from Labour and some Conservative MPs.
