'Deep concerns' in Olympic security shortfall

Home Affairs Committee Chair Keith Vaz has questioned why "we literally had to send in the troops" after Home Secretary Theresa May revealed that 3,500 troops extra are needed for the Olympic games.

The troops are in addition to 13,500 already agreed, amid fears contractor G4S may not have enough trained staff. Mr Vaz said that G4S "had let the country down".

Mrs May said that "the absolute gap in the numbers was only crystalised yesterday".
