Nick Herbert on White Paper 'speeding up justice'

Criminals could go through the justice system in a matter of hours under plans drawn up by the government.

Police and Criminal Justice Minister Nick Herbert said the White Paper would bring in more technology, get rid of the "inbuilt culture of delay" and see more courts sitting in the evenings and at weekends.

The plans will build on the work of the courts dealing with the riots in English cities last year.
