Stephen Twigg on GCSEs: 'We need a full inquiry'

Shadow Education Secretary Stephen Twigg has called for a ''full independent inquiry'' to resolve a row over GCSE English results.

It has emerged that the exam board, Edexcel, was asked by the regulator, Ofqual, to alter its GCSE English grade boundaries - just two weeks before the results were published.

Stephen Twigg is also writing to Education Secretary Michael Gove to call for the release of all correspondence between Ofqual and his department over GCSE marking, and for the release of correspondence between Ofqual and other exam boards.
