Cheryl Gillian: cabinet sacking and Welsh secretary job
Sacked minister Cheryl Gillan said the prime minister had made no secret of wanting a Welsh MP to serve as Welsh minister, when asked about her leaving the cabinet.
She refused to reveal the details of their conversation, or confirm reports that David Cameron was drinking wine as he told her about the cabinet changes.
The Buckinghamshire MP said she was "not necessarily condemned to the backbenches" and that she was the youngest women member in John Major's cabinet.
She denied she was on the political scrap heap and said: "I am only 60 and I mean I am only 60."
