Theresa May: We will appeal Abu Qatada deportation ruling

Muslim cleric Abu Qatada has been granted bail after winning the latest round of his battle against deportation to Jordan, to face a retrial there on terror charges.

He will be released from prison on Tuesday and will be subject to a 16-hour curfew.

The Special Immigration Appeals Commission upheld his appeal after his lawyers claimed he would not get a fair trial.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Home Secretary Theresa May said the government would seek to appeal against the ruling, describing the cleric as ''a dangerous man''.
