Chuka Umunna on Autumn Statement and welfare benefits

Labour could not yet say whether it backed the changes to welfare payments outlined in the Autumn Statement as it had not seen the bill, the shadow business secretary said.

Chuka Umunna said that six out of ten people affected by the proposed benefit changes were in work.

Asked about the tax paid by multinational firms - such as Google, Starbucks and Amazon - on their UK operations, he said: "We're not calling on them to make voluntary contributions, we're asking them to pay their fair share."
