'Plebgate': Met boss Hogan-Howe 'open-minded' over inquiry

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner has said he has an "open mind" regarding the conduct of officers in the Andrew Mitchell "plebgate" row.

Appearing before the Home Affairs Select Committee, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said he was "sorry" if comments he made last year had given the impression he had a fixed view about the incident.

In his first interview on the subject, with Victoria Derbyshire on Five Live on 21st November, Sir Bernard said "all the evidence I saw made me think" the police log was accurate and that he had no reason to think they would lie.

Mr Mitchell resigned over the row but denies calling officers "plebs".
