Eastleigh by-election: candidates name soap characters

The background leading to the Eastleigh by-election may make a soap opera in itself - and the constituency is no stranger to drama as the 1980s programme Howards' Way was filmed there.

Adam Fleming asked the four leading candidates - Lib Dem Mike Thornton, Conservative Maria Hutchings, Labour's John O'Farrell and UKIP's Diane James - which soap character they most identified with.

Polling takes place on Thursday, and 14 candidates are taking part to succeed Chris Huhne.
