Sir Mark Thatcher speaks of his sadness at his mother's death

Sir Mark Thatcher has spoken of the "sad moment" of the death of his mother, Baroness Thatcher at the age of 87 on Monday.

Speaking to reporters, he said the former prime minister "was blessed with a long life and a very full one".

Sir Mark said the family had been "overwhelmed" by messages of support and condolence from people "from all walks of life".

He also thanked the Queen for agreeing to attend the his mother's funeral.

"I know my mother would be greatly honoured as well as humbled by her presence," he added.
