G8 nations condemn North Korea nuclear plans

G8 states have condemned North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes" in the "strongest possible terms".

Speaking after a meeting of foreign ministers in London, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said international responses had been muted in order to not "feed the paranoid rhetoric".

However, Mr Hague added that if North Korea undertook further missile tests, as has been speculated, Britain would seek further action through the United Nations Security Council.
