Rail franchises: Nationalisation v privatisation calls
Problems with franchises for some rail services have left the government running a major train line, with calls for it to remain in public hands.
The government wants the East Coast rail franchise - running from London King's Cross to Edinburgh - back in private hands by the 2015 general election, with 10 of the 16 rail franchises also due for renewal by polling day.
