NHS should look after 'the whole person'

People should have "one point of contact for all their care needs", according to Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham.

Speaking on The Andrew Marr Show, Mr Burnham told Sophie Raworth that Labour plans would have the NHS leading on all provision so that people were no longer passed around different care systems.

He said that linking up council support in the community with the NHS would save money and was essential given the ageing population.
