'Government's prison plan doesn't stack up' - Yvette Cooper
Cuts to the probation service will impair prisons' ability to rehabilitate inmates, the shadow home secretary has warned.
Yvette Cooper was responding to a programme being implemented by the justice secretary, Chris Grayling, which will see male prisoners in England and Wales have to work harder to earn privileges such as TVs and the right to wear their own clothes.
Ms Cooper welcomed the idea of a focus on rehabilitation but said Mr Grayling's plans "did not stack up in reality".
