Woman says MP Mike Hancock should be sacked
The woman at the centre of allegations against the MP for Portsmouth South, Mike Hancock, has been speaking exclusively to the BBC. The 37 year-old woman has brought a High Court civil case, claiming sexual assault.
Mr Hancock denies the claim and last night resigned from the parliamentary party, saying that was in the best interests of the party and for his family. The woman, whose identity we have concealed, told BBC South's Political Editor Peter Henley she was unhappy that the MP had not been sacked.
Mr Hancock was not available for interview today. He has said he vigorously denies the allegations and will fight them in court, and he points out that a previous Hampshire Police investigation and inquiries by a House of Commons Committee have found no case to answer.
