PMQs: Cameron reminds Robinson of Mandelson loan

A Labour MP who criticised government policy over the "rather disturbing commitment" of the chancellor wanting to "interfere and intervene" in the running of the Royal Bank of Scotland, was reminded of his own headlines about lending money.

Geoffrey Robison asked about the "completely irresponsible ousting" of Stephen Hester, which he blamed for billions of pounds being wiped from RBS' share value.

But David Cameron referenced Mr Robinson's time as Paymaster General, who resigned in the 1990s after it was revealed he lent Peter Mandelson, now Lord Mandelson, £373,000 to buy a house.

MPs laughed as the prime minister teased the the Coventry North West MP - and former chairman of Jaguar Cars - for having "great experience in lending money".
