Home Office illegal immigrant campaign labelled 'nasty'
A scheme which saw vans drive through London calling on illegal immigrants to leave has been labelled "nasty" by crossbench peer Lord Ouseley.
Speaking on Radio 4 Lord Ouseley, who is the former chief executive of the Commission for Racial Equality, said the goal of reducing illegal immigration could be achieved without contributing to an "element of xenophobia".
But Conservative MP Peter Bone began the debate by applauding the government for testing the scheme in a pilot.
