Rebel MP Philip Hollobone MP on voting record

The most rebellious MP in the House of Commons said his job was to "represent constituents in Westminster, it's not to represent Westminster in the constituency".

Conservative Philip Hollobone, who represents Kettering, said the public "would appreciate" a party that allowed "freedom of thought" and independently-minded MPs.

David Thompson also spoke to Prof Philip Cowley of the University of Nottingham, who said this was the most rebellious Parliament of the post-war era.

But he said polling showed voters punished divided parties, and did not always reward the rebel MPs.
