UKIP-Tory electoral pact not on agenda says Diane James

The prospect of UKIP signing up to an electoral pact with the Conservatives in the next general election is "not on the agenda", according to the party's candidate in the Eastleigh by-election.

Diane James, who came second - 1,771 votes behind the Lib Dem winner - said there were "no ongoing discussions" in her party, and said it was the "media that is pushing this".

She added that there were clear marginal seats where her party would be a "driving force" and a candidate could "take that vote and ultimately be an MP representing UKIP in the House of Commons".
