Flint: Labour plans for energy market and lower bills

Labour has no plans to cut the green energy and social obligation costs which make up £112 of an average £1,300 energy bill, said Caroline Flint.

The shadow energy secretary said investment in renewable energy has halved in the last three years, and claimed Britain needed to "stimulate the opportunity to grow cleaner energy,"

Speaking about her party's plans for a regulator, she said the energy market "was not working, it is broken and we need to reset it", as she admitted the last Labour government did not do enough, especially from 2005.

And Ms Flint told Andrew Neil that "the big six" energy companies were overcharging customers by £4bn, as they were making bigger profits,
