HS2 high speed rail views from Conservative conference

Conservative conference representatives were asked if they thought the HS2 plan should be constructed or cancelled.

The high speed rail line has attracted opposition from those living near the line - mainly in north London, the Chilterns and West Midlands - and divided the business community.

Adam Fleming used the Daily Politics mood box, an unscientific test with plastic balls, to test the mood of the Tory faithful about the line that would eventually run from London and Birmingham to Manchester and Leeds.

The chancellor backed the scheme in his Tory party conference speech on Monday, but the shadow chancellor said last week there would be no blank cheque from Labour for the project.

More mood box films from 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010.
