Cameron tells Tories of 'Red Ed and Blue Peter economy'

Labour's polices for the economy were dismissed as "sticking plasters and quick fixes cobbled together for the TV cameras" by the prime minister in his speech to the Conservative conference.

David Cameron dismissed the Labour leader as "Red Ed and his Blue Peter economy" with plans for taxes on banks, promising free childcare and an energy promise that lasted 24 hours.

And he re-used the key line from Mr Miliband's party speech last week, by telling the Conservative faithful: "Britain can do better than that lot!"
