People with mental illness at higher risk of assault

People with severe mental illnesses are more likely to be victims of crime than the rest of the general population, according to a study involving academics and the charities Mind and Victim Support.

Men are said to be five times more likely to experience assault, while severely mentally ill women are 10 times more likely to be assaulted.
