Cigarette packets: Government accused of delay

Labour has accused the government of paying more attention to the "vested interests of 'Big Tobacco' than cancer charities and health experts".

On Thursday, Public Health Minister Jane Ellison announced an independent review into the effectiveness of plain packaging, which will report in March 2014.

But shadow public health minister Luciana Berger told the House of Commons, "the evidence is clear for all to see... We should be legislating now, not delaying."
