Cigarette packaging: Ministers launch fresh review

A new law enforcing unbranded packaging for cigarettes could be introduced if a review confirms that the measure would discourage smoking.

Ministers had shelved plans for plain packets earlier in the year, but are expected to announce an independent inquiry into the policy on Thursday.
