PMQs: Clegg 'staunch supporter' of HS2 high speed rail
The HS2 plan was a "very important part of wider revamping and modernisation" of UK infrastructure, said the deputy prime minister.
Nick Clegg told MPs that he was a "staunch supporter" of the plan to link London with the Midlands, and cities in northern England, in two stages.
At PMQs, he was answering a question from Tamworth MP Christopher Pincher who attached the "lamentable failure" to give residents and businesses details during the first meetings on the London to Birmingham section.
He asked the question as the next consultation on the northern lines was being launched.
