Do MPs' deserve an 11% pay rise?

MPs across Westminster have criticised plans to award them an 11% pay rise.

Parliamentary watchdog Ipsa is set to recommend a rise of £7,600 to £74,000, to come in after the 2015 election.

Labour MP for Bassetlaw, John Mann, told BBC Radio 5 live's Stephen Nolan: "Everyone else is having to take - in real terms - a pay cut, and MPs can't be seen to be different."

However political commentator Mark Thompson said the pay rise was "not unreasonable," claiming that "MPs' need to be paid for doing a very difficult job."
