Frank Field MP on child poverty and life chances
One in six children in the UK still live in very poor households, according to the latest government figures.
And experts predict the target to end child poverty by 2020 is likely to be missed unless more is done to address inequality.
Labour MP Frank Field said the first three years of a child's life are the most important, as he explained in a personal film from Birkenhead for the BBC's Daily Politics.
He said one in five young people in its poorest areas are NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training).
