HMS Montrose to aid Syria chemical weapons disposal

The warship HMS Montrose will help escort Syrian chemical stocks out of the country to be destroyed, the foreign secretary has said.

William Hague told the House of Commons that it was part of international efforts to rid President Assad's regime of chemical weapons.

He also pledged further British humanitarian aid for Syria as the situation "worsens".
