Syria refugees: 'Political solution required' - Andrew Mitchell
Calls for Britain to accept refugees from the conflict in Syria "is taking people's eye off the ball of what is required", the former international development secretary has said.
Andrew Mitchell told Radio 4's World at One that the prime minister was right to consider some cases on an individual basis but that the humanitarian crisis "requires a political solution".
David Cameron said he was "open minded" about accepting refugees if a compelling case was made for resettling them, after Labour moved to force a vote on the issue.
