50p tax is anti 'business-as-usual' - Ed Balls

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has told Andrew Marr the 50p tax rise is not an anti-business policy but "anti-business-as-usual".

Responding to criticism of the proposed rise in the top tax bracket from the business community, Balls said the Government's decision to cut the top rate of tax while the deficit is high and living standards are falling was "foolish" and "feeds resentment".

He added Labour also planned to make budget cuts to help reduce the deficit but would do so based on "fairness".
