Prof Alice Roberts: Ban creationism in school science
There is a role for discussing creationism in religious studies at schools, but it has "no place in science education", according to the academic and television presenter Prof Alice Roberts.
In her personal film, she said there should be more debate on the issue's role in schools, and that "creationism has the potential to ruin a scientific education".
Prof Roberts, who has presented Coast, said although state schools, including free schools, were not allowed to teach creationism as a science, there were some private schools which did.
She debated her film on Wednesday's Daily Politics with Conservative MP Francis Maude and Labour's Vernon Coaker, and the full programme is on iPlayer for seven days.
