Eric Pickles on government flood defence and protection

Eric Pickles said the government has "certainly not been dragging our feet' as he spoke about plans for flood defences - while rain continues to fall in south west England.

He said that, even allowing for inflation, the Coalition was spending more than the last Labour Government.

The communities secretary spoke to Andrew Neil on the Daily Politics, straight after his announcement to Parliament of a further £30m for flood repairs and maintenance, on top of the £100m pledge by David Cameron on Wednesday.
