Liberal Democrats pledge income tax cuts at spring conference

Raising the personal income tax allowance will be a key Lib Dem demand in any coalition talks after the 2015 election, the party has said.

Speaking at the party's spring conference, Treasury Chief Secretary Danny Alexander said raising the threshold for the amount people can earn before paying income tax was "a top priority".

He said the economic recovery would not have happened without the Lib Dems.
