Election day: Does rain and sun affect voter turnout?

Some candidates and canvassers reckon the weather can affect the turnout on election day, favouring some parties over others.

BBC weatherman Matt Taylor looked at the UK forecast for Thursday, and across Europe for the following days, as most other countries vote at the weekend.

And he told Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics about weather statistics - and turnout - from previous polling days.
